A Backyard Bug Bash!

This morning we went to celebrate Brooklynn's little friend Jackson's 2nd birthday. It was a backyard bug bash. Brooklynn had so much fun catching bugs with her net and bug box and playing in Jackson's backyard. One of her favorite parts of the morning was the bug lollipop she got on the way out.

A Movie and Museum

Friday morning Brooklynn and I got up bright and early to go with Mateo and his mommy (Lourdes) to the children's museum. Of course the kids had a ball and Brooklynn even took a 3 hour nap when we got home.

Later on that evening I went to see Sex and the City the movie with three of my girlfriends. We had a great time and the movie was sooooooo good! We bought our tickets in advance and had to get there early and stand in line in order to get decent seats. Luckily, we were able to get amazing seats! Afterwards we had a bite to eat and "discussed" all about the movie, husbands, kids, etc. I love girl night outs! Check out the line that had formed for the next showing when we were on our way out!

Happy Birthday Tatum!

Yesterday afternoon we went to Pump It Up Jr. to celebrate Brooklynn's friend Tatum's second birthday. The kids had lots of fun and Brooklynn loved the "Melmo" (Elmo) theme.

Friday Night...Family Style

So this evening Hendersohn and I came up with the idea of taking Brooklynn to Chuck E. Cheese. She'd never been before. Of course, she loved it! She rode lots of things and even helped mommy play skeeball.

Thursday's Thirteen~ Thirteen Things I Learned This Week While I Was Sick

This week I became sick with a high fever and flu like symptoms. Hendersohn had the same symptoms about 3 weeks ago and still hasn't "fully recovered" (in his words). I started feeling sick on Tuesday and got up on Wed. morning to go back on "mommy" duty. I'm in no way completely better but let's face it, mommies can't be sick! Here's what I learned:

1. You really can give up control of your household when you"re forced to
2. Brooklynn knows how to say "Mommy go night night" ( @ 4:00 in the afternoon)
3. Husbands need these occasional few days to get some perspective on the demands of being the "mommy"
4. Even when a mom feels like she can't even sit upright, she can somehow muster up enough strength for one bedtime story
5. Husbands may avoid physical contact when you have flu symptoms but your child will always want a hug and kiss no matter what condition you're in
6. A toddler can survive a few meals of cold pizza and juice
7. Hendersohn had no idea how to assemble a sippy cup (he now knows the plug is important)
8. The clean up behind your husbands "cleaning up" requires more work than cleaning up the first time
9. All it takes is one call and my husband comes running
10. You can sing the "Backyardigans" with your child (at their request) even though you feel as if death is upon you
11. Our bedtime routine (that normally takes 30 - 45 min for me )can be done in less than 10 (when Daddy does it)
12. Life can go on without you (just not as smoothly or like you'd have it to go)
13. God has an amazing way of quickly healing mommies because he knows how much they're needed! :)

Brooklynn's Year at MDO

Friday was Brooklynn's last day at Mom's Day Out for the year. Her teachers and the staff were so wonderful. She had a great year!

Party @ Loft 610

Saturday night Hendersohn and I went to dinner to celebrate my friend Heather's birthday. We had dinner at Loft 610 and we were even personally escorted to the VIP lounge by the restaurant manager after dinner. Unfortunately, we weren't able to live it up in VIP for very long. We had to go back on Mommy/Daddy duty and pick up little Miss Brookie from the babysitter. Here's a few pics from the evening.

A Beautiful Mother's Day

After waking up to breakfast in bed (cereal bar crumbs that Brookie left behind from her breakfast) I was treated to Starbucks and a Sausage Mcmuffin (2 of my favorite things!) Saturday morning I was treated to a manicure/pedicure courtesy of my family and dinner at Cheesecake Factory (another favorite!). Sunday afternoon we went to downtown Fort Worth and enjoyed some window shopping and dinner. Brooklynn even got a pink cowgirl hat! I was treated to a few great finds from some of the boutiques. All in all it was a truly wonderful Mother's Day!

Happy Birthday Macy!

This weekend the three of us went to a birthday party to celebrate our friend Macy's 2nd birthday! The party was at My Gym and Brooklynn had a ball!

Dinner with the girls!

Last weekend we went down to Arlington to see Chris and Monique's new baby Jonah. We had a great time admiring the new baby. Brooklynn even let me hold him (for a little bit) :) Some other friends of theirs came down to see the baby as well and we all decided to go out to dinner. The girls had a lot of fun and Brooklynn even explored using chop sticks.

A Day at the Museum

Between finals and computer problems I've been a bit behind on blogging. So now I'm trying to get all caught up blogging all the events that took place over the past few weeks.

Wednesday, Brooklynn and I went to the Dallas Children's Museum with her friend Keller and his mommy. The kids had a great time! We were there for three hours (that's a long time in toddler world) and the kids would have stayed longer if we had let them. The museum was amazing, they could play on and explore everything! We loved it so much we booked Brooklynn's birthday party there! :)

13 Things I Want to Say to my Mom...

1. I'm sorry for the night I stayed out until 3:00 a.m without calling. I now realize the agony I must have put you through.
2. Thank you for chaperoning every field trip. I now realize why you did.
3. Thank you for always finding a way.
4. Thank you for always putting your children first.
5. Although I will never fully recognize all the sacrifices you've made over the past 30 years, I now see the type of sacrifices you make as a mother. Thank you
6. Thank you for giving me such a wonderful sense of style, a great sense of humor, and a compassionate heart.
7. Thank you for reminding me that no one is better than me and I am not better than anyone else.
8. I have never known the feeling of needing something and not knowing when or if it would come, thank you.
9. I now understand why I was only allowed to have one Little Debbie Snack at lunch time. Two really is too much sugar!
10. I don't know how you let me go off to Virginia for college (Brooklynn's going to a local college so she can live at home). However, you did. Thanks for letting go so I could grow!
11. Thanks for being there through all the boyfriends, break ups, and heart aches. Oh yeah, I'm sorry for the long distance charges. What can I say, I thought I was in love! :)
12. You have always supported my choices, whether good or bad. You allowed me to make mistakes and learn from them. I now see how hard it must have been.
13. There is no way I could possibly put all of my feelings in a list of thirteen. You have taught me how to be a strong, compassionate, educated, spiritual woman. I pray daily that I can be the wonderful mother for Brooklynn that you have been and continue to be for me. There are no words to express the depth of my love and admiration for you. You are my best friend and I thank God for you every day!

Daddy Is The Greatest! (at least in Brookie's book)

On top of all of the usual things I have going on this week, I have finals for graduate school this week. Our computer decided to black out while I was working on one of my final papers, which added to my already high stress level. So needless to say when 7:30 rolled around I was totally prepared to put Brookie to bed and get back to studying. Brooklynn was bathed, calm, and ready to go "night-night". Well, Daddy came home seconds before I planned to put Brooklynn in the bed. He thought it would be a great idea to bring her balloons from his after work function. WHAT! As you can imagine, it was a big hit with Brookie! Daddy was the greatest, balloons and a rescue from bedtime! What more could a toddler want! So after 30 minutes of balloon fun, Brooklynn finally retired to bed. Of course, both Daddy and Brookie thought I was being "no fun". You gotta love Daddies and their timing! :)

UPDATE: "God is good all the time!" This morning Brooklynn decided it would be fun to watch her balloons fly near the ceiling fans (which were on). Hendersohn didn't see the harm in this, his exact words, "what's the big deal?". Well of course they got stuck in the fan and twisted up the cords. Hendersohn spent 20 minutes trying to pull blue balloon out of the fan while Brooklynn and I watched in amazement! :)
